Cosmetic Treatments

A beautiful smile and healthy gums and teeth is what we all desire and for many people this can only be achieved through the treatment options offered by cosmetic dentistry.

Dental Crowns & Bridges

Crowns are often referred to as “caps” since they cover and protect the entire outer surface of the prepared tooth structure, like a baseball cap fits over ones’ head.

Crowns are needed when the tooth structure is weak or teeth have been fractured. They provide support and stability for your teeth. They are often used to replace large amalgam fillings, fractured teeth or teeth that have undergone root canal treatment.

We use high quality dental materials to ensure that your crowns look natural in every way and more importantly indistinguishable from the surrounding teeth.

Bridges provide a permanent solution for the replacement of missing teeth in addition to the stability and support for teeth surrounding the gap. When a tooth is missing, the surrounding teeth can move and drift into the empty space, which can cause problems with your jaw joint and bite.

Veneers

Porcelain Veneers are used to close gaps and straighten crooked teeth. Porcelain veneers can also improve the shape, arrangement and colour of your teeth!

Veneers are a thin layer of porcelain that is bonded onto the front surface of a tooth. There is usually no need for local anaesthetic, extensive drilling or temporary restoration (coverings). So, improving the shape and colour of your teeth is easy and pain free. We aim to provide you with a natural looking smile.

Teeth Whitening

Home Whitening

During the initial consultation appointment, the exact shade of your teeth is recorded.
Photographs of your teeth are taken, and procedure will be explained. You will be advised
how white your teeth would likely to be after bleaching. When you are happy with everything
moulds are then taken from your teeth to make the bleaching trays. You will also be advised
of the estimated time required to achieve your desired degree of teeth whitening

During the next appointment the removable trays will be fitted and assessed for comfort. The
gel application procedure will be explained.

It usually takes 2 to 4 weeks for teeth whitening to occur before you will notice results. The
whitening effect is, in part, dependent on the structural composition of your enamel. It may
take up to three or four months of bleaching before the desired result is achieved.

We use a gentle 6% Hydrogen Peroxide or 12% Carbamide Peroxide bleach formulation
which is patented with 0% sensitivity problem.

Surgery Whitening

We use a gentle 6% Hydrogen Peroxide or 12% Carbamide Peroxide bleach formulation
which is patented with 0% sensitivity problem.

During an initial consultation you will be advised about the procedure

On your bleaching appointment your gums adjacent to teeth will be covered with a protecting
dam to avoid bleach leaking into your gums and the teeth will be immersed in bleaching
solution. Strong blue light will be used to aid bleach to diffuse into the enamel. It usually
requires 3- to 4 fifteen minutes applications to achieve the result. After the procedure you will
be advised not to drink or eat any staining/acidic products and acidic beverages or
any neat juices while bleaching.

To stabilise the bleaching, it is advisable to have bleaching trays made which are used for
home whitening bleaching. In this way whiteness can be maintained.

Bleaching if undertaken every 4 months this would insure that your teeth stay white or
become whiter in future. However, if undertaken only once you may see the effect fade after
a year or so.

Additional gel is available to purchase in the practice (see the prices in the price list)
